Message From the Chairs

We are proud of our successes from our 2014-2017 Strategic Plan.

2014–2017 Successes

  • We served over 88,000 participants across Canada
  • 89% of our community partners explain that our literacy interventions have improved outcomes for the people they serve
  • We established national partnerships with Rakuten Kobo, Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami, Let’s Talk Science, Indspire, the Canadian Building Trades, and others
  • We expanded delivery of our Summer Literacy Camps from 83 to 127 Indigenous communities in eight provinces and one territory, with expected growth next summer
  • We increased revenue by 39%, from $6.1M to $8.5M demonstrating that our integrated, program development-based revenue generation model works

We know there is more work to be done. We have identified three priorities in our new 2017–2020 Strategic Plan that will allow us to become even more effective.

  1. Enhance awareness of our cause
  2. Demonstrate our impact through improved evaluation
  3. Increase revenue and diversify funding sources

Our ultimate goal is to help more people by highlighting the critical importance of literacy and by ensuring that our programs are effective and responsive to our learners’ needs.
